About Kanger Ghati National Park
Kanger Ghati National Park is well approachable from district
head quarter Jagadalpur[Bastar]. It is 27 km.
from
the Jagadalpur on the Jagadalpur - Konta road. There is another
approach, 33 km. via Jagadalpur - Sargipal - Jatam - Nianar - Bodal
netanar road. North boundary of the National Park is marked by village
Netanar, Milkulwada and Nangalsar. In the south direction village
kakalgur and Kandanar are situated. West direction boundary is known
through the villages Teerathgarh, Chindawada, Pakhnar, Bispur and
Munaga. The Kholab river marks it's East edge along with the
inter-state boundary of Chhattisgarh and Orrissa. You can enjoy here
natural, virgin, untouched magnificence of the nature. There is 28 km.
long the first Asian Biosphere Reserve. There are several world famous
natural caves named Dandak, Kailash and Kotamser. It is better if one
has his own vehicle because it is 330 km. from the easily approachable
rail head Raipur.
General Information : It came in to
existence in the year 1982 when 200 sq.km. area rich in tribal
population was declared as National Park. The vegetation in park area
is mixed moist deciduous type. The national Park is situated on the
valley of river Kanger. The valley is in fact one of the last pockets
of almost virgin forests still left in the southern C.G. Kanger valley
is about 24 km. long with the average width of about 6 km. The
national park is situated in the transition zone where the southern
limit of Sal forests and northern limit of Teak forests overlap. Hence
both Sal and Teak are seen together in this valley.The area covered
within the national park is 38 m. to 781 m. above M.S.L. Kanger ghati
[valley] is world famous for it's natural virgin beauty beside this
shelters rare wild an imal
like Mouse Deer.
