Set
amid 6 acres of mature Sal forest, the Royal Tiger Resort is located
in the buffer zone of the forest area in Kanha National Park.
Inspired by the mud cottages of the local tribals, the Resort has a
total of 18 suites, built to three star standards.
The cottages are arranged in clusters of two or four to
accommodate guests travelling in larger or smaller groups.
The airconditioned suites offer an atmosphere of comfort and calm and
are tastefully decorated. Each suite has a private adjoining verandah
overlooking the forest where one can enjoy a quiet cup of tea and take
in the tranquil jungle mornings. The slanting tiled roof recreated
using local stone is best suited for heavy rainfall and to keep the
room temperatures low.
Large windows provide ample natural light in every suite and an
unobstructed view of the forest around.
Special care has been lavished in making the bathrooms the stuff of
dreams. Keeping in mind the erratic power situation we have installed
a full backup generating unit. This ensures 24 hour hot and cold
running water as well as operating other essential equipment.
Maintained within the property are three sacred Mahua trees that have
been or worshipped by the tribals for generations. To retain the
sanctity of these trees, we have built 'chabutras' (platforms) around
each tree and guests can spend a few meditative moments here.
In the main dining room guests can enjoy delectable cuisine including
fresh river fish and village poultry. The farm fresh vegetables are
grown in the nearby villages. The kitchen is fitted with modern
equipment and a Tandoor for mouthwatering bar-be-que. A 'machan'
created on the roof is an ideal s etting
for guests to enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding forest
while having a drink.
Our well stocked library offers you a variety of reference books and
reading material. And in case of emergencies, modern medical
facilities are available at the nearby towns of Baihar & Malachkhand.
At the Royal Tiger Resort we try and make your stay as comfortable and
unforgettable as possible. While with us guests can enjoy a variety of
activities from nature walks along the nearby Banjar river, picnics,
visits to the local markets and villages.
The abundance of birdlife around the resort makes it a bird watchers
paradise too.
A typical day at the Royal Tiger Resort starts at 5.30 a.m. with a cup
of tea and biscuits. You are then escorted by our trained naturalist,
in Resort vehicles, to the Mukki Gate, which is one of the two
entrances to the Kanha National Park. You can enjoy the beauty of the
jungle morning while driving through the Park on a soft well laid out
maze of roads, all the while watching for Chital deer or wild Boar
crossing your path. Packed breakfast is served inside the Park.
Towards mid morning, you are taken Tiger tracking on elephant back.
The Elephants amble through the tall elephant grass to the exact spot
where the Tigers lurk. We encourage you to enjoy this rare experience
as this is the best way to observe the Tigers in their full glory.
Lunch is at the Resort after which you can spend your time at
leisure--a short rest, a walk around the Resort or just a quiet
afternoon at our library.
We take you to the Park at around 3 p,m, and once again go Tiger
tracking until dusk. You return to the Resort by 6.30 p.m. and can
spend time with our naturalist who is available to answer your
questions.

The next days visit to the park may be planned with the naturalist who
will welcome your suggestions.
After dinner, a bonfire provides time for you to relax, swap stories
and if you so want, we can ask the Begga villagers to dance for you.
The Royal Tiger Resort offers its guests a unique and comfortable stay
at Kanha. We hope the attention to detail and comfortable stay at
